Who it harms
Marijuana is just a plant that, when burns, gives off a fume that alters the body. It does not affect other people when it is inhaled. Opposed to cigarettes where people die from second hand smoke every day.
Should Marijuana be legalized?
I think that marijuana should be legalized. Hundreds of thousands of people die each year due to smoking cigarettes and millions are effected by diseases due to smoking. With these numbers its ok for cigarettes to be legal? Marijuana kills 0 people a year (http://drugwarfacts.org/cms/?q=node/30). Even doctors prescribe it to patients to treat diseases. Also jail space is consumed by people caught with weed when there are robbers, rapists, ect.. out on the streets. I bet that if marijuana was legalized that the number of people that use it, wouldn't increase. Marijuana is a fad that lasts during the teenage and college years. Most people stop after they have "grown up." If it was legalized i think it would be fair to place an amount that a person can have on them at one time. This is just my opinion. Everyone should have to power to do what they want with themselves. What is your take on the topic?
